About

As a child in the Ohio River Valley, the seasons were big and bold. The radical change that distinguished the new from the past was celebrated. We went all out. While most kids were outdoors frolicking from field to field in sport, I found myself ambling about with wonder – what was growing in the gardens? And what is there to eat?

The one person who always knew the most about each season was also usually in the kitchen. I loved spending my days with Grandma Shirley, bringing bits and pieces together in carefully crafted dishes that’d be central to living large around the dinner table each evening. The entire family would bring each day’s adventure to the stories over dinner, and still to this day many of those dishes have captured the most meaningful stories.

Food and drink are such wonderful ways to nurture the creative juices of life. From the fruits of our homes and gardens through many methods of craft then into shared moments of community, there is so much to enjoy from even the most simple dish. This blog is my means to find these stories + share them with you, to bring more vibrant life to those little things that deserve to shine. Cheers!
